Cookies Policy
Last updated: June 15, 2026
This Cookies Policy explains how ScanForSecurity ("we", "us") uses cookies and similar technologies on www.scanforsecurity.com. It supplements our Privacy Policy and is provided in line with the EU ePrivacy Directive, the GDPR, the UK PECR, and the CCPA/CPRA.
1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. Similar technologies include local storage, session storage, pixels, and SDKs. We refer to all of these collectively as "cookies" in this policy.
2. Categories we use
2.1 Strictly necessary (always active)
Required for the site to function. They cannot be disabled.
sb-access-token/sb-refresh-token— authentication session for signed-in users.cookie_consent— stores your consent choices.
2.2 Functional (consent-based)
Remember preferences such as theme or language. Inactive by default.
2.3 Analytics (consent-based)
Aggregate, privacy-preserving usage statistics. We do not deploy cross-site behavioral advertising trackers, and we do not "sell" or "share" personal information for targeted advertising under CCPA/CPRA.
2.4 Third-party content
Embeds (e.g. video) may set cookies when you interact with them. Such cookies are governed by the third party's own policy.
3. Lawful basis
- Strictly necessary cookies: legitimate interests / contractual necessity.
- All other cookies: your prior, freely given, specific, informed and unambiguous consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a); ePrivacy).
4. Managing your preferences
You can withdraw or update consent at any time via the cookie preferences link in the site footer. Most browsers also let you block or delete cookies through their settings; doing so may affect functionality.
We honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal as a valid "do not sell or share" opt-out for California consumers.
5. Retention
- Session cookies: expire when you close the browser.
- Persistent cookies: up to 12 months, then refreshed only with renewed consent.
6. International transfers
Where cookies result in data transfers outside the EEA/UK, we rely on adequacy decisions or the Standard Contractual Clauses with additional safeguards.
7. Updates
We may update this Cookies Policy as our cookie use evolves. Material changes are announced on this page and the "Last updated" date is revised.
